November's Cape Cod events calendar brings us everything from a celestial "Star Party", to an exciting new food and wine festival, and lots of activities that'll kick off your Holiday season in grand style!

From "Gardens Aglow" in Sandwich and the lighting of the Lobster Pot Christmas Tree in Provincetown, you'll find plenty of fun from one end of the Cape to the other in November 2021!

CCAS Star Party

When: November 6 and 27, 2021, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Where: Werner Schmidt Observatory, 210 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA

Admission: Free

Crisp, clear nights are made for stargazing! 

Join members of the Cape Cod Astronomical Society for a "Star Party" at Werner Schmidt Observatory.

Friendly, knowledgable, amateur astronomers from CCAS will be there to show you the stars and planets through telescopes and to tell you all about the night sky. You'll also see large-screen displays of astronomical objects that are being imaged by the main telescope in the Observatory Dome.

Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies on Star Party  night. Cloudy skies or inclement weather will cancel the event.

*Note: To maintain social distancing, this will be an  outdoor-only event. So wear your warmies!

Provincetown Food & Wine Festival

When: November 4 - 7, 2021

Where: Various venues in Provincetown

Provincetown Food & Wine Festival celebrates local chefs and restaurants while exploring exceptional wines in the historic town of Provincetown.

New to the P'town scene this year, this festival will feature wine tastings, fine dining experiences, and other festivities that are sure to delight all foodies and wine lovers!

Glassblowers' Christmas

When: Opening day is November 19, 2021

Where: Sandwich Glass Museum, 129 Main Street, Sandwich Village

Admission: This is an indoor show/sale that is free to view. Touring the Glass Museum is a separate admission.

The Sandwich Glass Museum is all dressed up for the Holidays with unique glass works created by some of the region's foremost glass artists.

The colors, the sparkle, the entire magical ambiance of the Museum in winter ... this event is sure to put you into the spirit of the Season! Don't miss it!!

Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument

When: November 11, 2021, 5 - 7 p.m.

Where: High Pole Hill, Provincetown

Admission: No charge to watch the illumination

The spectacular 252-foot tall Pilgrim Monument dazzles the night sky with thousands of white lights, celebrating the Pilgrims’ First Landing in Provincetown in November 1620.

The lights continue to shine through the first week of January. It's a beautiful sight to see!

Polar Express Christmas Train

When:  Weekends from Nov. 26 to Dec 23, 2021 and Christmas week

Where: Buzzards Bay Depot, 70 Main Street, Buzzards Bay

The delightful children's story, The Polar Express, comes alive as you board Cape Cod Central Railroad's  festively decorated train cars for a ride to "the North Pole". 

As the Christmas train chugs along the tracks, everyone gets into the Holiday spirit with merry music, a reading of The Polar Express story, sweet treats, and mugs of hot cocoa.

Of course, the Jolly Old gentleman himself will be there when the train stops just outside the North Pole, greeting everyone with a rousing "Ho, Ho, Ho!".

What a fun way for the whole family to kick off the Holiday Season!


Eastham Turnip Festival

When: 2021 festival - Cancelled

Where: Nauset Regional High School, 100 Cable Road, Eastham

Yes, you read that right ... a turnip festival! The town of Eastham is famous for its turnips - the sweetest you'll ever taste, courtesy of Cape Cod's light sandy soil and sweet salt air.

This one-of-a-kind Cape Cod event celebrates the venerable hometown veggie with an afternoon full of games (turnip bowling, anyone?), fun contests for all ages, arts and crafts for the kids, live music, and lots of unique tastings from the turnip cook-off.   Eastham turnips will be on sale, too, just in time for your Thanksgiving feast!

"Gardens Aglow"

When: Weekends (Fri., Sat., Sun.) from November 26, to December 26, 2021, 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. - SOLD OUT!

Where: Heritage Museums and Gardens, 67 Grove Street, Sandwich

Admission: Adults $18; children $7; age 2 and under free

Heritage Museums & Gardens is putting on the glitz again this Holiday Season with it's treasured annual event - Gardens Aglow!

At this extra-special time of year, the good folks at Heritage adorn their acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands with more than 10 miles of twinkling, sparkling lights. It's truly an awesome thing to see!

Come stroll throughout the grounds and buildings where you'll enjoy festive holiday displays, family-friendly activities, marshmallow-roasting, music and special performances, visits with Santa Claus, displays of model trains - and even a visit by some baby animals.


The Sea Captains Nutcracker

When: November 27 & 28, 2021, two performances each day

Where: Tilden Arts Center at Cape Cod Community College, 2440 Iyannough Road, West Barnstable, MA; (also live streamed)

Admission: In-person $30; live stream $20

This production of the Holiday classic whisks the audience away on an enchanting journey through local history and folklore of Cape Cod. The battle scene takes place aboard a ship as it is attacked by mooncussers off the coast of Eastham, as a swift and violent storm off Monomoy Point threatens the voyage. The salty old Sea Captain replaces the traditional Drosselmeyer character. Having sailed the high seas, he returns home to Chatham bearing exotic gifts for Clara.

Holiday Open House at Nauset Model Railroad Club

When: Saturdays from November 27 through December 18, 2021, 1 - 4 p.m.

Where: Nauset Model Railroad Club, Hilltop Plaza, Orleans

The Nauset Model Railroad Club's Holiday Open House is a "don't-miss" for model railroad fans of all ages. Over 2,000 feet of display space features a variety of model trains chugging and tooting through miniature scenes festively decorated for the Holidays.

The Lobster Pot Tree

When:  Late November through December

Where: Lopes Square in Provincetown

Admission: Free

Made from 100+ lobster pots stacked over 2 stories high and decorated with ribbons, garland and thousands of festive lights, artist Julian Popko's lobster pot Christmas tree will put you in the Holiday mood for sure!

*Note: Although there won't  be a formal lighting ceremony in 2021, you can watch the Lobster Pot Tree being built and decorated the weekend of November 26-28.


Gingerbread Lane & Artist Shanties

When: November 26 & 27, 2021, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Bismore Park and Harbor Overlook, Hyannis MA

Admission: Free

This weekend's festivities include a Gingerbread Lane of colorfully decorated artist shanties; an artist holiday market; free kiddy crafts; food, beverages, and cordials for sale; visits with special costumed friends, and plenty of good Holiday cheer!


Elf, The Musical

When: November 23 to December 19, 2021 (performances on Thurs., Fri., Sat. & Sun. only) 

Where: Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Road, Cotuit, MA

Based on the movie we've all come to love over the years, this hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity. This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf!
