August is prime time for Cape Cod's most popular special events!
Summer brings us celebrations at the beach, film and music festivals, the famous Carnival Week in Provincetown, and the ever-popular "Hookers Ball" under a big white tent.
And that's just the beginning of all the fantastic things to do on Cape Cod in August!

Dedicated to showcasing and promoting the work of independent, emerging filmmakers, the highly regarded Woods Hole Film Festival draws filmmakers and patrons from around the world.
The Festival showcases a wide variety of screenings and events during its eight-day run. This year, some events will be in-person and others will be virtual. Truly, something for everyone!

Come out for a ride on one of the most popular attractions in Falmouth - the Carousel of Light.
This hand-carved, twirling work of art features 20 wooden horses and 2 wheelchair accessible chariots (including one called "Bubbles" that actually blows bubbles!), all decked out in a nautical flair.

Hookers Ball is the annual summer gala of the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen's Alliance. Normally held under a big white tent on the grounds of the Chatham VFW, this year this popular clambake event will be held under the "little white tent" at Captain Harding House.

On August 2nd, the Jazz Festival features jazz singer Krisanthi Pappas and the Cape Cod Jazz Quintet.
On August 16th, the Festival moves to its Cotuit venue, showcasing jazz woodwind players Peter & Will Anderson, and the the vocals of Leslie Boyle.

This year's events during this wild and famous week in P'town include the Sunset Boat Cruise, Opening Party, Provincetown Follies, and the Closing Party.
The renowned Carnival Parade has been put on hold for this year. Barring unforeseen circumstances, it'll likely be back in 2022 - as big and boisterous as ever!

Where: In-person in downtown Falmouth and virtually in your neighborhood or wherever you're able to walk.

The Falmouth Walk is back to in-person this year; and there'll be a "virtual" walk, too, for those who prefer to take part at home. this year.
The $30 entry fee for this event includes a Falmouth Walk t-shirt and official walk bib number. All profits from the Virtual Falmouth Walk benefit local charities.

The ASICS Falmouth Road Race is one of the most anticipated Cape Cod events each August. Over 10,000 runners from Cape Cod and around the world participate in the race each year.
This year, it's back to in-person running along the beautiful 7-mile seaside course, with spectators lining the route to cheer the runners on. There'll also be a virtual edition for those who prefer to do their running at home.
When: August 21, 2021, party starts at 6:00 p.m.
Where: West Dennis Beach
With summer in full swing on Cape Cod, it's the perfect time for a beach bash! On Saturday evening, West Dennis Beach will be the scene for a beach bonfire, marshmallow roasting, and a big fireworks display at dusk.
Pack your beach chairs and a "portable" dinner, and come join the party!
