Orleans Farmers Market

When: February 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2023 from 10 a.m. to noon

Where: 44 Main Street, Orleans, MA

Admission: Free

During the winter months, the popular Orleans Farmers Market is held indoors at the Old Firehouse.

Stop by and stock up on fresh, locally grown and harvested seafood, meats, and produce, as well as yummy treats, healthy foods and healing balms from area food artisans and wildcrafters.


Guided Walks at Cape Cod National Seashore

When: February 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Where: Multiple locations (see below)

Admission: Free, pre-registration required

Join a National Seashore park ranger on a guided walk along some of the prettiest walking trails on the Outer Cape, and learn about the area's natural and cultural history. 

February 5 - Nauset Marsh Trail (1.3 miles- 1 hour)

February 12 - Atlantic White Cedar Swamp (1.1 miles - 1 hour) 

February 19 - Pilgrim Springs (.7 miles - 1 hour)

February 26 - Great Island (3.9 miles - 2 hours) 


Winter Film Festival

When: Sundays in February 2023, 1:30 p.m.

Where: Salt Pond Visitors Center, 50 Nauset Road, Eastham, MA

Looking for something to do on a chilly Sunday afternoon? Head  to the Salt Pond Visitors Center in Eastham for the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore's popular Winter Film Festival.

"Freezin' for a Reason": Gosnold's 2023 Polar Plunge

When: February 11, 2023 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Where: Falmouth Heights Beach, Grand Avenue, Falmouth, MA

Admission: $30 to participate, free to watch

The 2023 Freezin' for a Reason Polar Plunge brings hearty plungers together for a good cause! 

The event is sponsored by Gosnold Behavioral Health, the award-winning health and substance use treatment facility that has been serving Massachusetts for half a century.

Registration for the plunge begins at 11:00 a.m., and the swim kicks off at Noon. All participants will receive their very own t-shirts.


Cape Cod Symphony: "The Roaring '20s"

When: February 11 & 12, 2023, Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m.

Where: Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis

Admission: Adult tickets from $32, students from $16

Enjoy the silent screen magic of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton and the music that made those early Hollywood films come alive, plus the radio plays and dances like the Charleston that revolutionized the youth of the age.

National Marine Life Center's Arctic Seal Plunge

When: February 12th, 2023 @ 11:00 a.m.

Where: Onset Bay Center - Buzzards Bay Coalition, 186 Onset Ave., Wareham, MA

Admission: $20 registration + $2.20 sign-up fee; spectators free and all donations appreciated

A highly anticipated event of the year, National Marine Life Center's Arctic Plunge raises funds to support the Center's mission of providing medical care and rehabilitation for injured sea turtles and seals.

You can participate in the plunge, donate, or help fundraise.

*Note - This event is off-Cape. But (IMHO) it's worth a drive to "the other side of the bridge" to show your support for such a great cause!


Outermost Contra Dance

When: February 17, 2023, 7 p.m.

Where: Wellfleet Preservation Hall, 335 Main Street, Wellfleet, MA

Admission: $15 adults age 30+; $10 under age 30; $5 students (with ID)

Contra dancing is the true traditional New England dance, brought here by the Irish, English and Scottish settlers.

No fancy footwork needed – if you can walk, you can dance!  All the dances are taught and called. If you’re new to contra dance, be sure to get in on the early dances for the basic moves.

The contra dance is family friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels. So bring your sweetie, your kids, or come alone. Lots of fun, friendly people will be there to welcome you!


"The Supper Club" at Wequassett

When: Friday and Saturday evenings beginning February 17-18 and continuing through March, 2023

Where: Wequassett Resort & Golf Club,  2173 Head of the Bay Road, Route 28, Harwich, MA

Tickets: $125 per person; reservations required and space is limited

Die-hard foodies will undoubtedly delight in Wequassett Resort & Golf Club's new "Supper Club" series!

Led by the resort's Executive Chef James Hackney and his team, in conjunction with collaborating chefs, the Supper Club will showcase a selection of fabulous international cuisines.

Guests will be greeted with a specially crafted cocktail upon arrival; and the single-seating, multiple-course dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., served family-style.

On Saturdays from 5 to 9 p.m., there'll be live entertainmment, too.


Yarmouth Winter Carnival

When: February 18 - 20, 2023; Sat. noon - 6 p.m.; Sun. and Mon. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Where: Skull Island, 934 Rt. 28, South Yarmouth, MA

Admission: $2 per person; kids 6 and under FREE. Cash only at the front gate. (Extra charge for skating)

Grab your ice skates and head to Yarmouth for the annual Yarmouth Winter Carnival!

In addition to an outdoor synthetic ice skating rink, there'll be food trucks, s'mores fun, magic and fire shows, a petting zoo, and a whole lot more family-friendly fun! (Download the events schedule, here.)

*Note: Advance registration is required for skating, and space will be limited to 15 skaters per 30-minute session. Tickets go on sale on Monday, February 6th, 2023, at Noon through Yarmouth Recreation by calling them at 508-398-2231 ext. 1520 or stopping by their office located at 424 Route 28 in West Yarmouth. The ice skating rink will be weather dependent.


Green Meadow Forest

When: February 18 and 20-25, 2023 at various times each day

Where: Green Briar Nature Center, 6 Discovery Hill Road, East Sandwich, MA

Admission:  Non-member adult $5; non-member child $10; member adult FREE; member child $7

Visit the storybook world of Peter Rabbit, Grandfather Frog, Reddy Fox, and the many other characters created by beloved children’s author, Thornton W. Burgess.

At the Green Meadow Forest experience, visitors can play with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rabbit in their Rabbit Hollow, fish with Billy Mink, try Plinko with Happy Jack Squirrel and enjoy other fun and educational activities. 

This event is a wonderful way for the whole family to learn about the animals native to our area, their habitat and how they were portrayed in Burgess’s stories!


Cape Cod Museum of Natural History Programs

When: February 18 - 24, 2023

Where: Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Rt. 6A, Brewster

Admission: Admission prices vary by event. Some events are free with Museum admission.

Cape Cod Museum of Natural History re-opens mid-month, just in time for school vacation week. 

Along with all the wonderful exhibits the museum is known for, school vacation week brings even more fun and educational entertainment for the whole family.


Winter Fun with Wampanoag Storytelling & Song

When: February 24, 2023, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Where: Highfield Hall & Gardens, 56 Highfield Dr., Falmouth, MA

Looking for a unique school vacation week event for the kids?

Join Wampanoag cultural education specialist, Kitty Hendricks-Miller (Nenâweeta), as she shares stories through song and fun-filled activities with hand drums and traditional percussion instruments. 

As a song carrier, Kitty shares her musical gifts and knowledge of Wampanoag traditions. Children will take away a hand craft made with natural materials. 

Kitty is otter clan, educator, musician, and a citizen of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.


"Revel in Romance" Literary Weekend

When: February 24-26, 2023

Where: Wequasset Resort & Golf Club, 2173 Head of the Bay Road, Route 28, Harwich, MA

Cost: Varies, depending on whether you want to stay overnight or just attend a session or two

Join Boston Globe's Love Letters columnist, podcaster and best-selling author Meredith Goldstein as she hosts a literary weekend of romance novelists and more.

Bring your favorite romance novel for a book exchange, and learn the art of love letter calligraphy. Other weekend events include a welcome cocktail, literary lunch with guest authors, private dinner, and book signings.
