Super Bowl Sunday Polar Plunge

When: February 2, 2020, registration 11:15 a.m., plunge at noon

Where: Craigville Beach, Centerville, MA

Admission: Fund-raiser for MSPCA Cape Cod.

Are you up for a quick dip in the briney?

Don a funny costume, or brave it in your swimsuit. (Yikes!) Whatever your fashion choice of the day, you'll get a warm and fuzzy feeling taking a splash into the brisk Nantucket Sound water for such a good cause!

Not ready for outdoor swimming quite yet? Spectators are welcome to come cheer the polar plungers on!

Winter Film Festival

When: February 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.

Where: Salt Pond Visitors Center, 50 Nauset Road, Eastham, MA

Admission: Free

If you're looking for something fun to do on a chilly Sunday afternoon, head out to the Salt Pond Visitors Center in Eastham for the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore's Winter Film Festival. 

This month's film lineup is Gravity (February 2nd), The Theory of Everything (February 9th), Apollo 13 (February 16th) and The Heart of the Sea (February 23rd).  

The movies are family friendly ... and free!


Cape Cod Museum of Natural History Programs

When: MA School Vacation Week (February 17-21, 2020)

Where: Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Rt. 6A, Brewster

Admission: Admission prices vary by event. Some events are free with Museum admission.

The Museum opens mid-month, just in time for school vacation week. Bring the young 'uns to learn about the animals that call the Cape  their home. Other special February vacation events at Cape Cod Museum of Natural History include birdwatching, films, nature walks, and interactive presentations.

Note: Reservations may be required for some special school vacation week events.

Cape Cod Boat Builders' Show

When: February 7-9, 2020; Friday 2-7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

For avid boaters, this is one of the first Cape Cod events of the year to remind us that boating season will be here before we know it. 

Whether you're in the market for a new boat, or just like to ogle the newest and nicest watercraft to come on the market, you won't want to miss this year's Boat Builders' Show in Hyannis where more than 50 talented exhibitors showcase their custom and limited-production fiberglass and wooden creations.

Hyannis Marathon Weekend

When: February 21-23, 2020

Where: Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis, 35 Scudder Avenue, Hyannis

Admission: Entry fees for participants; no charge for spectators

One of the premier Cape Cod events of the winter season, this weekend kicks off on Friday with a 5Km Fun Run. Saturday features the 10 Km run. And Sunday is the big day for the Hyannis Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Team Relay. 

The Race Expo, cocktail and dinner parties, and the awards ceremonies round out the weekend's festivities.

 

CapePOPS! 3 - The Tonys: Broadway's Best

When: February 22 & 23, 2020, Saturday at 3 and 7:30 p.m., Sunday at  3 p.m.

Where: Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis

Admission: Adult tickets from $32, students from $16

This month, CapePOPS brings the Tony Award-winning songs of Broadway to the concert stage.  

Guest conductor Peter Mansfield and a cast of multi-talented artists will musically transport you back to the "Great White Way" with hits from ever-popular shows like The Music Man, Guys and Dolls, Cabaret, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hairspray, and more.
