Romantic Bed & Breakfast Cape Cod Getaway

by Darlene
(NY)

Question: I'm looking for a Victorian type town with a wonderful bed and breakfast. I love the old days look. Lots of old time shops, old country appeal, good food, antiques, boutiques, nice restaurants, and of course near water for swimming and a picnic on the beach. A romantic 4-day getaway for new lovers! And very pretty!

Dee's Reply: Hi Darlene - When I read that you're a fan of the Victorian era and are looking for a wonderful bed & breakfast, a few places came to mind:

Romantic Getaway in Sandwich MA

Isaiah Jones Homestead is an upscale B&B that's known for its lovely Victorian interior decor, friendly service, and perfect location in Historic Sandwich Village.

Isaiah Jones Homestead B&B

Sandwich Village is full of wonderful museums and cute little shops, and there are some very nice restaurants in town, as well.

From the center of Sandwich Village, it's about a half-mile to a scenic boardwalk that goes out over the marshlands to Cape Cod Bay. It's a beautiful spot for an early-morning walk. Just a few miles up Rt. 6A to the east is the turn-off for Sandy Neck - a 7 mile long beach that's a great spot for swimming, beach walking, and yes, picnics on the beach.

All along Rt. 6A, from Sandwich to Brewster and beyond, you'll find lots of antiques shops, galleries, boutiques, and pretty scenery.

Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod, established in 1620. So I think it's safe to say that you'll get your fill of "the old days" in Sandwich!

Here's where you can read more about the town of Sandwich.

Classic Victorian Beach B&B in Falmouth

Would you like a bed and breakfast that's right on the beach? Have a look at Bailey's By The Sea

Falmouth is a pretty town with a ton of history, many nice beaches, excellent shopping, and a good variety of nightlife.

Falmouth is also a handy home base for a day trip to Martha's Vineyard.

For Victorian architecture lovers, a visit to the Martha's Vineyard port town of Oak Bluffs is a must. Oak Bluffs is home to some of the most incredible Victorian architecture you'll find anywhere!

Here's more about Falmouth, and suggestions for a day visit to Martha's Vineyard.

Romantic Stay in Barnstable

The towns of Sandwich and Falmouth are on the Upper Cape, close to the bridges that cross from the "mainland" on to Cape Cod.

If you'd like to stay somewhere that's a bit more centrally located on the Cape, here are two more B&Bs you might want to consider:

Honeysuckle Hill

Ashley Manor

Both of these B&Bs are on the north side of the town of Barnstable in an area that's chock-full of lovely scenery, nice restaurants, interesting shops, and plenty of antiquing, too.

Here's more about the town of Barnstable.

Hopefully this information gives you a good start on finding the perfect spot for your romantic Cape Cod getaway. If you have more questions, please feel free to get back to me any time.

Wherever you choose to stay, I'm sure you and your sweetheart will love the Cape's old-time charm!

Best Regards,

Dee
