My hubby and I recently had a chance to visit a truly unique Cape Cod inn ... The Platinum Pebble Boutique Inn in West Harwich.

The Inn's proprietors, Annabelle and Simon Hunton, were gracious enough to accommodate my spur-of-the-moment, Sunday afternoon phone call asking, "May we come for a visit? I'd love to see your Inn."

On Simon's good-natured "Sure, come on over!", Richard and I hopped in the car and made our way to West Harwich.

Having been a fan of Simon's engaging blog style for some time now, I wasn't at all surprised when the genial gentleman himself greeted us at the door with a big smile and warmly welcomed us into the historic 1830s-era sea captain's home.

I was instantly blown away! What a pleasant sight it was to see the classic, weathered-shingled main house sporting a chic, strikingly modern, thorougly tasteful interior.

(That's quite a contrast with the inn's prior incarnation, which featured flowered wallpaper and furniture coverings, and a scattering of lace doilies here and there - reminiscent of your eccentric aunt's summer cottage ;-)

As Simon's lovely wife, Annabelle, showed us the inn's guest rooms and regaled us with the home's history, I had to resist the urge to ask her if I could crank up the fireplace, flop down on a king-sized bed, and snuggle into the luxury sheets and comforter for a little snooze. What better way to spend a chilly, early spring afternoon???

My hubby, on the other hand, was busily ooh-ing and aah-ing over the en suite bathrooms. I have to admit, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries and super-fluffy towels always get a big thumbs-up from me. But, for my darling Richard, it was the sparkling granite and rainfall showerheads that had him hooked straight off!

Back on the main floor, Simon caught up with us again in the Map Room - so named for a beautiful rendering that served as inspiration for the room's decor.

Our tour continued into the Sitting Room, where guests convene in the evening to share hors d' oeuvres and tales of their day's explorations. As comfy, bright and airy as the Sitting Room is, the view of spring flowers, the pool and firepit beyond caught my eye.

Strolling out onto the patio, Simon and Annabelle offered to show us one of the luxury poolside rooms. Wow!

(Sorry, my photo above really doesn't begin to do it justice.)

Flat screen TV, working fireplace, hard-wood floors, lovely artwork on the walls, and the "come hither" bed and bath ...

Sign me up for a few weeks stay!

As you might have guessed by now, I could go on and on about the Platinum Pebble. Instead, I'll let others tell you about their experience as pampered guests at the inn.

If you're planning a special getaway, consider The Platinum Pebble Boutique Inn. You'll be glad you did, I'm sure!
